An 87-year-old woman woman was killed after being struck by a car in Park Extension Thursday evening.
The woman was struck while crossing Saint Roch Street around 7:30 p.m.
Police say the woman was crossing the road illegally between Birnam and Stuart Avenue.
The victim suffered severe head injuries and was transported to hospital. She died of her injuries shortly after midnight Friday morning.
“We have ruled out that the driver was speeding or under the influence of alcohol,” said Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.
“This was due to poor visibility conditions in the rain and time of day.”
The 46-year-old driver is not facing criminal charges. This is the 21st road-related death on the island of Montreal in 2017.

I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always generous and lend freely; their children are blessed. – Psalm 37:25-26
