Miami Mayor Announces ‘Imminent’ Evacuation Ahead Of Irma – Hurricane Jose?

Miami Mayor Carlos Gimenez has told reporters that an evacuation order will be coming late Wednesday or early Thursday.

As Hurricane Irma looks set to become the most powerful Hurricane in history, forecasters warn that the storm is expected to make landfall this weekend. reports: As we reported earlier, the storm has shifted west more quickly than forecasters had anticipated. As of Tuesday, the storm was on track to slam Miami, though its eventual path may vary.

“Over the past couple of days, the track of the storm has shifted “a lot further to the west”, and at this point it appears that Miami is the most likely to take the full force of the hurricane. But as we have seen, trying to forecast the behavior of hurricanes is not an exact science. Irma may never become a category 5 storm, and it may never hit the U.S. at all. Or it may zip past Florida to the south and end up making landfall in the Gulf of Mexico. The truth is that we just don’t know.”

Computer Models Show IRMA Destroying New York City On Sept. 10

By 12:00 noon on September 10, computer models show that the strength and path of IRMA risk totally obliterating New York. reports: The National Weather Service, and its National Hurricane Center utilize supercomputers to predict where hurricanes will travel based on hundreds-of-thousands of pieces of weather data. The system they use is called Global Forecast System (GFS).

At 2:00 this afternoon, Friday, September 1, the GFS model spit out its projection of Hurricane IRMA’s path over the next 12 days. This model shows the utterly terrifying projected path of Hurricane IRMA coming right up the east coast, and making landfall in NEW YORK HARBOR as a Category 5 Hurricane, with winds in excess of 157 MPH.

As all eyes are on the forecast track of Hurricane Irma, another tropical system formed Tuesday in the open Atlantic Ocean far from land.

Tropical Storm Jose is located around 1,500 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, and has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, the National Hurricane Center said in its 11 a.m. ET advisory.

Jose is moving west at about 13 mph, according to the NHC.

“Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and Jose could become a hurricane by Friday,” the NHC said.
