Glenmore Trail reopens after multi-vehicle crash

Traffic was piling up Saturday afternoon after a multi-vehicle incident blocked eastbound Glenmore Trail from Blackfoot Trail to Deerfoot Trail S.E.

The crash, which took place at approximately 12:30 p.m., occurred when a westbound vehicle drove over a traffic median, according to Calgary police.

“That vehicle collided with another vehicle going the opposite direction,” said Det. Shawn Rupchan with Calgary police.

Occupants of both vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Rupchan said. One individual was taken to hospital by EMS.

“It’s believed this might be a spinal injury,” he said.

The affected sections of eastbound Glenmore Trail were expected to be closed for several hours, but reopened around 1:40 p.m.

“They’re diverting traffic as best they can onto Blackfoot [Trail] and down onto Deerfoot [Trail] in another area,” Rupchan said.
