A Smoky Skies Bulletin continues for many areas of the province including Okanagan and Shuswap. The bulletin was expanded Wednesday to include nine more areas including the Boundary and West Columbia regions.
The bulletin released by provincial health and environment officials advises people to “avoid strenuous outdoor activities.”
“If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, contact your health care provider: difficulty in breathing, chest pain or discomfort and sudden onset of cough or irritation of airways. Exposure is particularly a concern for infants, the elderly and those who have underlying medical conditions such as diabetes and lung or heart disease,” advised the bulletin.
Late Wednesday morning, the Air Quality Health Index for all areas of the Okanagan was rated as a moderate health risk. In Kamloops, the health risk was considered very high on Wednesday morning.
