  1. I was chasing these tornadoes that day, and there was a lot more electricity in the air than this video shows. Here's a great example of why you DO NOT want to be standing near or leaning against or otherwise touching metal fencing when there are storms about. At the 3:16 mark, look at the fence directly above the "R" in "neaR Simla". At that time, you'll see the fence glow bright…and then about 2 seconds later you'll see the main flash from the lightning. You see…the electrical leader that was shot out towards the ground that preceded the lightning strike itself actually sent a jolt of electricity down the fence….where you saw it "spark" so to speak. Had a person or a cow been leaning against that fence line….they could easily have been killed. I've chased storms for 30 years, and I DO NOT FOOL with lightning. When it begins, I get right into my vehicle and make sure all windows are closed tightly.
